Kshana meva by Sri Venkata Kavi is a beautiful composition which I have never heard before. The swarams for Shuddha Bangala were well presented with the 2 vocalists switching at random between Rama Bhakthi and Manasa for the eduppu. Ganesh did a very creditable alapana for Yadukula Kambhoji and Dikshitar's vara kriti was well rendered
But the winner of the day was the RTP. The pair allowed themselves well over an hour to work the pallavi. Instead of rushing to squeeze everything out of the ragam, Shashikiran sang a very thoughtful and soulful Kalyanavasantham while Ganesh touched all the right notes in both Sahana and Asaveri. Again the swarams were sung at all possible eduppus and in tisram etc whcih made it very lively. It was very satisfying to hear my first RTP for the season laid out so well. The accompaniments were good with special mention for mridangam.
Great morning concert!
