Priya Sisters began with a Varna , a composition of their Guru T.R Subramaniam. This has been a concert where some of my favorite raagas were sung. Sowrashtra to begin with
, and Khamas .A beautiful alaap by haripriya and nerval at Seetapathe naapai ....was the highlight of the concert with crackling swaras sung by the sisters.
The 9th Kamalaamba Navavarna Kriti of Dikshitir was chosen and sung beautifully. Gamanashrama was handled well by both the sisters . An elaborate alaap of Shankarabharana by Haripriya lasted for almost 14min . Swararaaga Sudharasa was the main kriti of this concert . Fab rendition of swaras and Thani . It takes quite an effort to choose a bhajan with in-depth meaning and at the same time sing it with devotion. Priya sisters manage to do it with ease. I managed to write down the lyrics as much as i could..
