Rasayana and the family of Uday Shankar invite you all to a concert on April 8th.

Venue : Atrium - The same venue , where we hosted Pattabhiram Pandiths concert last year. Details of address will be posted as we approach the date .

Mridangam : Chennai S Thyagarajan ( Disciple of Ramanathpuram Murughabhoopathy and Khanjira Maestro Harisankar )


This is in memory of Late M.Rammohan, grandson of Soolamangalam Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar, Harikatha doyen of early 20th century.
Also the Father-in-Law of our own Uday Shankar.
M Rammohan was quite well known for his twice-yearly programs (free for public) of Radha Kalyanam Utsavam with concerts of senior artists. This has been a 100yr tradition in their family since the days of their illustrious g-greatfather. This year they will have the Radha Kalyanam on 23-24th April (Sat 3 to 9 pm; Sun 8 am to 12.30 pm) at Besant nagar---Varasiddhi Vinayakar Koil, by OS Sundar and party. All are welcome, for that program as well.
M Rammohan used to participate in our own free-wheeling sessions and has left us with indelible images of his artistry in story telling , singing , khanjira playing , mimicking musicians , and last but not the least , an enduring image of a fine relationship with his Son-In-Law.

Grateful thanks to folks carrying forward the Torch of (late) Sri Rammohan and assuring Uday that the services his f-i-l will not be forgotten by the Rasikas...

Just one wish for suryaprakash-spa-ramkumar-nerkunamshankar concert:

Just one wish for both of you(suryaprakash and ramkumar), I have not heard a mrudangam tAnam of Ramkumar yet,hopefully if suryaprakash sees this on time , can sing a long tAnam with metered mrudangam. Another perennial wish let the concert go for 3 hours please. Hope some one reviews the concert in a new thread in Kutcheri reviews topic (not here).And if possible the upload of atleast the RTP,or atmost all the concert (pavamAna could be skipped I am not too greedy in asking all ) .

If you could really have the concert bringing the unique aspects of one of your guru (especially prof TRS)that would be an excellent takeaway for all of us, There is an entire generation who hardly know about musical magnificence of TRS.

Is this a first? Are the horizons of the naming conventions and traditions now being extended to include websites?

I find that the tradition of including "(native) place name" before name is slowly fading away. Maybe this is because it will soon result in a lot of "Mylapore"s and "Mambalam"s and "Alwarpet"s.

Nearest bus stop: Jayanthi Theatre Tiruvanmiyur
Directions: Going south on LB Road, Kalakshetra Road is the last left turn before Jayanthi Theatre. Atrium Flats is less than a quarter kilometer on the right side. Alternatively, it is the road exactly opposite the main Kalakshetra Gate and if you come a little over quarter kilometer from the Kalakshetra gate, the Atrium Flats is on the left.
