Carnatica presents unique Carnatic chat & Moksha concert

Unwind musically this weekend through a unique Carnatic chat corner and an unique Moksha concert!!!

Carnatica, the pioneering organization known for its innovative approach in promoting Carnatic music worldwide, is back with two unique, first-of-its-kind concepts. These events will feature several popular musicians and music scholars. The event is done in association with the oldest Musical Sabha in the city, Sri Parthasarathy Swamy Sabha, and the venue would be Arkay convention Centre, Luz, Mylapore.

Event 1: Carnatic Chit -Chat Corner
When: 5.30 pm, 4th June, 2011

The first event, called Carnatic Chat Corner, an interactive and informative open house discussion with the discerning rasikas! It will feature popular musicians and music scholars. The topic will be, "Relevance of classifying the Carnatic ragas as parent and child ragas ( Janaka-Janya ) in today’s context". The participating experts include, Vidushi Suguna Varadachari, Maestro Chitravina N Ravikiran, Musicologist Dr.N. Ramanathan, the Multi-faceted Dr.Sriram Parasuram, Popular vocalist S. Sowmya and moderated by vocalist and founder of Carnatica K.N. Shashikiran. The event is open to music students,teachers, musicians, and music lovers for free.

This will be the first of the series of topics that will be chosen up for healthy musical conversations.

Supplementing the chat session, will be chat and hi -tea for everyone!

Event 2: The Moksha Series :Music for Salvation concerts
When: 5.30 pm, 5th June, 2011

The second event, Music for Salvation, will be an unplugged, live, pure art for arts sake concert! where-in the artiste can explore and share their various creative experiences on that day in a pure uninhibited ambiance with just tanpura for support to re-create an almost perfect music meditation! The first of the series would feature popular musicians including Sriram Parasuram, S.Sowmya, P. Ganesh, and Bharat Sundar. This pure form of music will elevate the audience to varying levels of bliss and ecstasy.The concept is ideal for complete relaxation of mind and body and a perfect De-Stress recipe. This is almost like a journey into the practice sessions of the artistes.

The events have been conceptualized by vocalist and scholar K.N. Shashikiran. The program will be anchored by Manasiprasad, a multi-talented personality.

This is again open to music loving rasikas of Chennai for free!
