Flute Jayanth on Song!! - A report on his album release.

I just returned from the album release function of Flute J A Jayanth's new album under the auspicious of Giri Trading Company at Aar Kay Covention center, Royapettah and had a great satisfaction of having attended a good release function and the concert that followed. A small report on the function as folows:

As the audience gathered the sample tracks of the album was on and it was indeed very pleasing to listen to the tracks. Chief guests for the evening were Padma Bhushan Sri PSN, Veteran actor Sri. ARS, Musicologist Sri. TSR, Veteran Musician Sri TRS & Sri Thiruvarur Bakthavatchalam. Sri Ranganathan of Giri Trading quoted Kavi Vali's speech in a film forum that the common phenomena of great personalities in Film Industry was the three letter (in tamil) names viz.. MGR, Sivaji, Rajini, Kamal to today's Vijay, Surya, Ajith and so on. This phenomina mentioned by Valli applies to Music field as well with great musicians like ARI, GNB, MDR, SSI, MLV, MSS, MBK, LGJ, GJR, UKS, and so on and he blessed that JAJ (JA Jayanth) also to reach such heights. A deserving blessing indeed for this wonderful artist who has performed very well in this new album and also gave an excellent concert today.

Sri ARS got his speech going talking about his ignorance on the knowledge of music and said its helps a lot to enjoy the music as he never bothers about intricacies like raga, thala, janya, niraval etc. and just enjoys any good music. He also mentioned an interesting fact about Flute Maestro Mali's All India Radio programme many years before! Understand the concert was scheduled from 730 - 9 am and that many of the village people had come and sat in front of his house to listen to Mali's flute recital as Radio was there only in their house! To the surprise of all who had gathered the announcer in AIR mentioned that as Sri Mali has not yet arrived AIR and that the violin artist will play the concert! To Mr. ARS's surprise no one moved and when he asked few why they were staying back in spite of Mali's absence - the audience said, "Wait he might come any time!". At 750 am AIR announcer announces that "We understand Mr Malli has left his house to AIR". The crowd had a relief and at 810 am AIR announcer announced with joy, the arrival of Mr Mali and concert went on till 9am! Such was the authority / mastery Mr Mali had on music that the audience were ready to accept as he was for his Genius in him!

Sri TRS remembered the relationship he had with Jayanth's grandparents Sri T.S. Sankaran and grand mother Smt Sundari, a renowned vocal artiste and praised their efforts to bring their grand son in a good way and blessed him for a bright future.

Sri PSN informed of his relationship with Sri. TS Sankaran's family and said, "While i have not attended a full concert of Jayath till now, I have been informed by many that he plays very well. That was proved with the sample tracks which we heard now in particular the Sankarabaranam & Ahir Bhairav pieces and i have no doubt talented Jayanth will scale greater heights with his grandparents wishes and blessings".

Sri. TSR remembered a wedding he had attended in which he forgot to go for dinner on listening to Jayanth's concert which was mesmerizing! He also emphasized that "It is not necessary to become a Mali but establish a Jayanth in the years to come".

Sri. Thiruvarur Bakthavatchalam was all praise for Jayanth for his laya gnana and appreciated Giri Trading for having come out with an album of a youngster like Jayanth, when the market or album makers are always looking for big name releases! A right point which was applauded by one and all. While performing the concert he asked Jayanth to play Ahir Bhairav Jayanth replied saying it is any way in the album for which Sri Bakthavatchalam said, "That is the reason i am asking you to perform as it will interest many to buy the cd as they go out". Good thought and Jayanth did give a great Ahir Bhairav!

After the album release the team that performed / enhanced and embalished the album with Jayanth, Sri VIttal Ramamurthy, Sri Thiruvarur Bakthavatchalam and Sri Vaikom Gopalakrishnan presented a good 80 mts concerts starting with Deva Deva Kalayamithe followed by Inthasowkyamu with good Thani avarthanam, Radhasamedha krishna, Pibare Ramarasam, Thirupugazh and rounded off the concert with mangalam.

Kudos to Jayanth for the performance both live & in the cd and he is indeed a great Talent to follow!

I attended this event. Not a dull moment from the start. Not one speech was dull even for a minute. Jayanth was at his best both in the CD and in the concert. Very satisfying evening.
