I can drop million words , it is extremely good . I was wondering between this site and the other that RVijay created will we have fragmented data , looks like you have sourced all the data from the sabhas directly.kutcheris.com wrote:

If I could add one line of feature which I missed is
"Today is Friday, I want to look at Friday-Sunday concerts ".It is quite difficult to wade thru the data and make 3 date selections instead if you have a feature from and to date picker that would be wonderful.

3000 concerts ---> How many ears for those concerts? , anyway that is not your problem you are indeed helping us to choose what we want , sure way for a tourist to be a traveller

Thanks so much...glad it is helpful!
And yes..3000 is quite a lot! You can 'star' the concerts you are interested in and this will appear on your homepage as a sort of concert itinerary. We don't have a login feature (yet) so you'll only be able to see these from a single computer...but hopefully you find it useful.

I selected the from date (2011-12-09) and to date (2011-12-11), it does not get the all dates from Dec 09th till the specified end date , so there is a bug. Also at times the date control UI is not coming up(hate to say that to you may be a browser bug), possibly you can put a small help next to simple search link and say you can enter date as 2011-12-09 etc

It's an excellent service, as I think I probably said last year. I was a little disappointed that it did not continue for 2011 365-day festival!
I had a problem with the date too. yyyy-mm-dd may be a great format for sorting, but it is not intuitive. Then I saw a calendar block appear --- but it didn't at first.

Kutcheris.com (courtesy vikram and team ) have sourced the data and put all the schedule for december season, but we can use RVijay's calendar for the rest of the year in chennai AND most importantly REST OF THE WORLD and Chennai Concerts through out the yearNick H wrote:It's an excellent service, as I think I probably said last year. Nick, the date-picker calendar block is based on jQuery (which is a JavaScript library). It is entirely executed on the client side (i.e., in your browser). So, the delay that you see is due to the Javascript loading on your machine. If your machine loads it quickly, there will be minimal delay. I don't think there is much the website can do to decrease this delay other than not use Javascript at all.
Coming to the main topic of this post, I wanted to commend Vikram and the kutcheris.com team for this effort. It takes a **lot** of work to collect these schedules. I'm sure it helps to an extent that Vikram is in the thick of things in terms of contact with artists, but the effort involved is still tremendous. Therefore, a big round of
Since someone also brought up (earlier in this thread) the calendar that I created, let me briefly comment on that. One cannot expect 1 person (or a small team) to have the time to do what the kutcheris.com team has done for the season on a throughout-the-year, global scale. The intent of the calendar that I put together at kutchericalendar.com is to distribute that effort to the community (just like Wikipedia does). Tapping into the collective manpower of the community will hopefully make it easier to have the global, round-the-year calendar that Nick refers to. It is not very polished as of now because it was essentially one geek hacking over a long weekend to create it.
But, the goal is to take it (hopefully soon) to a point where it needs only very minimal active administration from me and can just run smoothly where rasikas both enter events and benefit from the entries of everyone else.
In closing, look forward to a spectacular season... Whenever I think of the 20+ hour flight time that I will be going through in a few days to get there, I remind myself of the delights that await me in the season and suddenly, it seems totally and completely worth it!

Re: December Season Concert Schedules
Vijayr has empowered each of us to add in the calendar, helps all of us in the non crowded schedule.
whereas Kutcheris.com has taken the additional trouble to enter ,whereas not empower each of us .
I was about to post when this thread , did not know how so much data would be entered that too after the creation of VijayR , Now it is a WIN-WIN situation for all rasikas.
kudos to both Kutcheris.com team and VijayR , both have done exceptional work

The Chennai edition of 1st December and the following Friday issues of the Hindu generally has many articles/ interesting information on CM. This is not available in other cities. Can someone be so kind to post the relevant web links in this tread please?

The link is this http://www.thehindu.com/arts/music/
but you have to read it fast before this Thursday/Friday, before next refresh. On 1st Dec issue, most of the articles were MA awards based(I posted them on different threads like mayavaram somu ,etal ...) and all the rest were classified ads of sabha schedules which you dont have access. Dec 02nd ,2011 it was predominantly having only sudha's link. You have 5 to 6 more days to read this.

For Bombay look at this thread http://www.rasikas.org/forums/viewtopic. ... &start=525
I think post kutcheri season , it would be good idea for any one to update RVijay's calendar as each of us are empowered to direcly add . This is in http://www.kutchericalendar.com/calendar/month.php
