TNS Krishna commenced his concert with a sloka in Kalyani, followed by ata tala varna in two speeds. Being a Tuesday, he appropriately chose mangalvar kriti of Dikshitar, Angarakam Ashrayamyaham in Surati. He rendered an elaborate Hamsanandhi alapana, touching all the possible sancharas. The presentation of the kriti Paahi jagath janani was brisk paced. Mayamma was beautifully rendered in a relaxed manner with full of bhava, bringing out the complete essence of Ahiri. His Alapana in Sanakarabaranam was unique with grahabedam and kalpana swara in ragamalika in quick tempo remarkably showcasing the TNS bani. He chose a not frequently heard krithi and did a very good job. The Ashtapathi in Hamirkalyani was pleasing.
Laya patterns in kuraippu and korvai were quite intricate. The way he handled it shows his high standard and maturity. His hard-work shined throughout the concert. There was never a dull moment and Krishna proved to be a chip of the old block. The accompanying artist gave able support. It was an excellent team effort. TNS Krishna has arrived and is here to stay. Such young talents should be supported by the audience in large number.

I attended TNS.Krishna's concert for the first time. It was a very enjoyable, scholarly presentation in the style of his illustrious father. The anticipation of R. Ramesh was remarkable and his thani invited repeated appreciation from the audience. With his knowledge, intelligent approach to music, and dedication to the art, Krishna is sure to make it big in his career.

The main kriti in S'bharanam is a HMB composition.Krishna is his father's son truly.Incidentally today morning listened to his father's veena concert in radio. The main was S'bharanam - svararAgha sudhA' and the svarams were in rAgamAlikai in the ghana pancha rAgams. It was very nice to hear. The same R.Ramesh in mridhngam here also playing excellently. How many similarities you see !

My biggest crib with Krishna is his enunciation which completely lacks clarity. Musically he appears very sound. Hopefully he will also understand the value of serenity, that will provide a good contrast to a flamboyant style like that. Being a chip of the old block must sure be a huge responsibility and has the danger of straitjacketing any musician (we rasikas must refrain from doing that to any upcoming musician). It would be great if Krishna finds it in himself to go beyond being a mere shishya of his father. My best wishes to this bright youngster!
