KiranAvaLi will not fit into the mould of current crop of female singers. She seems to be a lot more individualistic. She sounds like the oldies of yore and the music is natural. The best part of her is she doesn’t make any effort to present herself sweeter by artificial means. She sings assertively with a bold voice telling you “this is how I present. You may take it or leave it”.
The first two nos.were sung in a usual way without making an impact or impression. It was during the kAnada essay she made me sit up and watch. The built up of the raga was methodical and strong with the phrases coming one after the other more in the middle octave where the rAga bhAvam was replete in each phrase. While I wanted more it was over and the kriti with svarams was well rendered.
It was in her ‘kalyAni’ essay the vidushi unleashed her manOdharmam and there were some very good phrases in a tempo where whatever she sang registered in the mind of the listener..It was an exercise that was carefully done totally in all departments like niraval and svarams also.A very good presentation !
VVSM presented the rAga sketches in line with the main artist and his replies were sweet.
Nagaraj and Akshay provided good accompaniment and played a brisk tani in misra capu.
The singing of kiranAvaLi is traditional and it is a singing by a strict teacher than a performing artist who will adhere to sampradhAyam and will not compromise even a bit. A bit more self involvement and a relaxed mood will surely make her shine as a performing artist also.

I felt that she is much more self-involved than most women musicians today who are extremely 'audience conscious'. She seemed to be singing from her heart, without any contrivance. Too add to what you have already written, I also immensely enjoyed her leisurely Ambaneelayatakshi and the immediate contrast provided by the sprightly Maramanan.

Good review. Your review has given a thought to me for attending a concert of this vidushi whenever I get an opportunity.

its a good concert , what i felt is a little more modulation in the voice production will make her presentation an impressive one.
