Re: Brinda Manickavasakan at MFAC, 19 Dec 2011
I walked in when Brinda Manickavasagam was finishing the first number. Wish I had heard TRS's varNam. I had listened to her two years ago, and liked her singing very much. What better thing to do than listen to her this afternoon, with our Ram was accompanying her, I thought! It was a good concert.
I wondered too about the composer of pADum tiRanellAm. I was happy there were four tamizh songs in her list!
I had heard Akkarai Swarnalatha a few times last season. She sounds sweeter this year. Has made strides, it seems.
As for Ram, his playing sounds even better this year. His playing for cittam irangAdadEnaiyyA and mInAkshi mEmudam dEhi deserve special mention.
