It was yet another exclusively singular concert by Smt. VS today. The verdant ambiance and the cerebral sensation added extra cabalistic for today’s performance. With an emotionally charged voice and with a soulful feel in her music all the time, Smt. VS instigated the concert vibrantly with Saranga varnam and vehemently, enthused into malayamarutham based karpaga manohara song as part of second presentation. Smt. VS’s alaap was a true sense of wonder filled with artistic broadenings without disturbing the silhouette of raga charter. Her unlimited combination on sargams did not fail to drench the heart of rasikas.
Her Third recital based on kannadagowla (orajupu) was a sheer spectacular divergence that wonderfully evoked emotional content without compromising the lyrical beauty. Smt VS then structured an immaculate vision to develop a very beautiful raga elaboration for her fourth presentation sri venkata.
Her fifth performance “Kamala charane” based on amrita-behag was delivered with classiness and mastery.
Emi Jesithe Nemi set in todi was a masterpiece today. Todi seems to be a child’s play for smt. VS. She transports scarce colors every-time she sings todi and today’s presentation was no different. It had stylish detailing, uncommon phrasings, step-by-step elaboration on the raga, her playoffs on the nyasa swaras, her mandra vistaars, taar vistaars, intriguing swara passages , her spontaneous ‘amaad’ using ‘ gmpdns; gmpdns; gmdnrs’ was beyond excellence. Shri. Venkatasubramanian enabled good support on violin and shir. MJ Balaji was brilliant on his sangath with mridangam.
Smt. VS then smoothened the rasikas with kapi & bhairavi (Hindustani) based preludes and connected bhairavi skillfully to educe yaman-kalyan by changing the raag-ki-prakaar. Bhavayami thus followed with grace, emotional sophistication and divinity. It was a transcending experience. Smt. VS concluded the concert with a poignant and famous bhajan ‘rama govinda hari bhajo re bhaiya’.
Smt.VS is definitely on a dream-run this season with extreme creativity and massive vocal brilliance all through this season. I’m sure it is going to be a sustained feast for rest of the days in this season as well.
