Sri. D.Sesha Chary & Sri. D.Raghava Chary – Vocal
Sri.Nagai Sriram – Violin
Sri. Mannargudi Eswaran –Mridangam
1.Ninnukori – Vasantha varnam –Adi- Thachur Singaracharyulu. Sung in 2 speeds
2.Ne jesina - Purnachandrika- Adi- Patnam Subramanya Iyer (K)
3. Nee daya Raada- Vasantha Bhairavi – Rupakam –Tyagaraja (K)
4.Sangeetha Gnanamu – Dhanyasi- Adi-Tyagaraja.( R,K,S)
Sri Sesha chary sang the alapana. I have always liked his interpretation of Dhanyasi. The alapana exposed the different facets of Dhanyasi like a kaleidoscope- sometimes serene, sometimes poignant, sometimes flirtatious, and sometimes bhakthi. Sangeetha gnanamu was a good choice to match the mood. Swara kalpana was brief.
5. Oka pari judaga rada – Kalavathi –Adi-Tyagaraja- (K)
6.Ennalu oorake – Shubha panthuvarali- Misra chapu- Tyagaraja (R, K, S)
Sri Sesha Chary excelled himself in the alapana! A perfect 10 on purity of sruti. Many moments of voice, violin and thambura merging creating a wonderful experience. .He also carefully sidestepped the land mine of a temptation to sing Hindusthani phrases and completely avoided them. Nagai Sriram effortlessly matched the alapana. Tyagaraja’s gem of a krithi Ennalu oorake was sung. Sri Raghava Chary sang some interesting swara kalpana patterns.
7.Nee bhakthi baghya –Jayamanohari- Rupakam- Tyagaraja (K)
8.Karunanidhi ilalo – Thodi- Syama sastri (R, K,N,S)
As someone wrote, listening to this krithi after many years, was like meeting a dear friend after a long time. Every line of this precious krithi sparkles. My joy knew no bounds. The preceding alapana was shared by the brothers. Sri Raghava Chary’s graceful alapana was fulfilling. It was filled with sowkhyam.
Neraval was sung at `Komala mrudu bhashini, Ghana sadrusa veni’. Parts of it were sung like a thanam which was very good with its in- built rhythm. It was sheer delight to listen to sri Eswaran’s thani.
9. Virutham in Kannada in ragamalika followed by Narayana- sudhdha dhanyasi-Khanda chapu- Purandara Dasa
10.Karpagame –Madhyamavathi-Papanasam sivan
Mangalam

Thanks for the review, Neeraja veni. Indeed one of my biggest misgivings with most shubhapanthuvarALis that I've heard is the tendency to Hindusthani-ise it.
Sankark, here's your karuNAnidhi ilalo!

wish i was there. i did hear them at the bvb singing for a packed hall. their vagadheeshwari and atana was sublime. the way they render the telugu songs of st.thyagaraja seems to fall much more nicely on the ears just because of their knowledge of the language. it definitely enriches their concerts. sri rksk and sri tvm. balaji were very good in giving just the right amount of music. like neerajaveni has mentioned there were sublime moments in that concert too where the shruthi, violin and the vocal of seshachary merged into one. raghavachary was good too. just wish he would also sing more.
