As usual it was a concert that features time tested and oft repeated kritis,yet it was quite enjoyable because of the sheer selection and manOdharmam and exuberance of TVS ably assisted by the mridangist Ramesh.The ghatamist played very well whenever he was given a chance.

The excellent features of the concert were

1.the lovely and lively svara singing for Orajupu by TVS and Mahadevan.
2.the AlAps of PoorvikalYani,hindOLam and kApi.
3.the svaram singing for the main by the father and son duo.
4.Very aesthetic percussion support esp.by Ramesh.

The overall effect of the concert dipped a bit because of the violinist whose only satisfactory works were his playing of rAgams otherwise there were apasvarams mostly.I don’t know what happened to DPS suddenly !

Mahadevan supported his father and his svaram singing was very good in all the songs.He effortlessly touched thAra D in hindOLam and his voice in mandhrasthAyi sounded strong and good and soon he may be on his own after imbibing all the goods from his father;the same way TVS did with MMI.It is a welcome step.

The stamp of a senior vidwan is the number of manodharma items that he chooses to take up. The Rs and Ns and Ss are really amazing.
I have heard more of the two tamil songs from him in Hindolam Ramanukku mannan mudi and one more Also I have heard mainly his Intha soukyam in Kapi. In Brindavana saranga was it just the virutham? He normally sings one more time tested RTP Sreeranga .... Paanduranga -Brindavana saaranga.
Eppa varuvaaro is like seeing Dravid in the team. Cannot remember a concert without that

Mahadevan has been consistently performing well. I do not know if he got enough chances for himself during the 2011 season.

There is a TVS concert coming up on 25th at Indiranagar sabha in Bangalore. I think it is a ticketed concert.

Indiranagar program as part of MMI remembrance (Centenary) I suppose.

TNS also singing the same day @IIMB (YAMINI).

Probably the other song you are mentioning is 'mAramaNan' which he sings often.Yes he often sings 'intha sowkhya' unlike 'meevalla'.It was only the virutham in BS.

Absolutely right. (My memory is good but short ) He presents these two songs in grand style. I love them.

In the Indiranagar sabha, besides TVS concert on 25th , there is also a Centenary celebration of Madurai Mani Iyer on 26th morning.
