Narayanan,

Very nice! I enjoyed it. Congratulations! The madhayamakAla passage was very nice in particular. Can you please elaborate on the myths behind 'AnjanEya bhaktAnugrahAdhipa', 'tilla taila priya', and 'divya mAlini mantrOpadESA'?

thank you shankarji.Im glad you liked it.Following were some of the myths as I understand it

1. 'AnjanEya bhaktAnugrahAdhipa'

In the Ramayana, Hanuman is said to have rescued Shani, that is, the planet Saturn, from the clutches of Ravana. In gratitude, Shani promised Hanuman that those who prayed to him (Hanuman) would be rescued from the painful effects of Saturn.

Hence AnjanEya + bhakta + anugraha + aadhipa ( shani always blesses the devotees of hanuman promptly )...aadhipa is just a filler here could mean first or leader

2. 'tilla taila priya' -

he likes sesame oil - not sure of the myth here

3. 'divya mAlini mantrOpadESA' - borrowed from Dikshitar's Divakaratanujam - shaneeswara is worshipped by the Malini matra

thx for raising the question shankarji - would be great if someone in the forum could explain the myths behind 2 and 3.

Dear 1-niyer,
Congratulations for the attempt.

But, shouldn't it be 'SHANAISCHARA' as in Dikshitar's kriti ?

(Perhaps it is an error in the English transliteration!)

I also suggest to get a couple of 'spelling mistakes' here and there corrected by a samskrit scholar. I am not one!
