They began with a beautiful Varnam (Sarasijanabha) in Nata. What can be a better start to a concert? This was sung in two kaalams and there was a detail swarakalpana at the charanam of the varnam. The next piece was "Brahma Kadigina" in Mukhari. The way this song was rendered really moved the listeners. The essence and the characteristics of the raga was completely justified in their rendition. However there were some places where they made mistakes with the lyrics.
Ranjani started with the beautiful elaborate essay of Malayamarutham followed by the evergreen "Manasa Etulorthune". The alapana was so beautiful. It made the entire ambiance of the hall serene! The krithi was well received by the audience for its popularity. A brisk round of swarams at "Kalilo" followed. Neelambari was a rendered with amazing feel, specially the lines of the charnam, the bhavam was brought out very well.
Shanmukhapriya was a beautiful choice for the main item. Gayatri dealt with the raga here and it was amazingly rendered. The krithi was rendered beautifully and the neraval and swarams were done at the line "Vikaja kamalamukha". The patterns of swaras they did during the kalpanaswaram filled us with awe, they were extra ordinary. The speed, the kind of combinations! Simply superb
Gayatri did a short sruthi bedham from Shanmukhapriya to Kaanada during the alapana. Later she also explained how the sruthi bedham was done and demonstrated the phrases she used, once again, for the benefit of the students of music.
Bahudari for an RTP! Treat is one word I'd call it. The ragam was dealt in detail! The pallavi was a dwi nadai pallavi in Khanda Triputa. Purvangam was in tisram and uttarangam in chatusram. The swarakalpana was done so beautifully. For a while, they did this: Half of the round would be sung in tisra nadai and the other half would be in chatusra. Once this was over, the ragamalika swaram began and each was a treat to the ears! Gowla was handled so well by Ranjani, I literally was in tears of joy. The swarams were sung in two kaalams for all the ragams. Gayatri did Ranjani raagam, Ranjani in Brindavana Saranga and Gayatri in Sindhu bhairavi. The latter ragas were sung with shades of hindusthani music. The mridangam accompaniment also changed the style while they sang the hindusthani shaded ragas! It was a thorough treat for the listeners, the entire team's effort!
The Revathi number was also sung very well. And the other two pieces need no mentioning, for they are very well known for their abhang and bhajan singing!

The violin, mridangam and ghatam were the biggest reason that made the success of the concert complete. It was a thorough treat to the ears, listening to this entire team
I just presented a brief report of the concert due to lack of time. Will present a much detail report later. Ranjani and Gayatri visited Hyderabad after 13 months! And the hall was almost full. The concert was very well received. And i thoroughly enjoyed it. Tomorrow, Sanjay Subrahmanyan will be singing, will give that report too!
It feels so good to have so many concerts in the city of Hyderabad and most of them being well attended by the audience. And each of them being a beautiful experience Looks like that musical famine is over for Hyderabadis
