Wonderful Concert by the maestro. He began with Multani with a Vilambit and a Drut compositions which lasted for 1 and half an hour.The accompanying vocalist was brilliant. He was very interactive as well. He wanted to sing Kalyan when some one requested for MaruBihag. He said "Listener was God and he will sing the same as commanded". He also said "I always hear that HIndustani music doesnt give importance to lyrics like carnatic compositions by Thyagaraja and MD and said he will attempt to sing the song by giving importance to the lyrical value." A wonderful demonstration bringing out the difference between sur and swar was given. He used to practice for 8 years from 9pm till 6am and says he has no time for practice now and students take all his time. He is teaching about 1000 students at ITC Sangeeth RA. The marubihag was very good. After the speeeech he sang requests again. one in desh and Hari Om tatsat. He rejected Shivaranjini saying he avoids that raga because many bad memories pops up. Hardly 10% of the place was full.. some one asked him if he remembered that tamil sng he sang for Raja. he replied "Isayil Thodanguthama".

I guess it is a neat way of pointing out the speeches were tooo loong!
Thank you for the report..Sri Ajoy has truly tried to meld HM and CM, and I really love some of those experiments of his (as well as his daughter's)....
