Some concerts turn out to be very sepecial.. 27th was one such day.. The temple environment and the audience response was simply grt.. It was indeed a dual treat! Dual refers to pre tani and post tani. Very good selection of kritis and raagas.. Every composition was sung with great devotion.
A brisk lively varnam was followed by a composition on Lord Vinayaka in Begada. Swaras in begada were short and crisp.. After a beautiful Bowli and a rare composition of Tyagaraja in Manoranjani, Haripriya proceeded with a short alaap in Bharavi.. The composition of Annamacharya was fantastic. A beautiful composition with detaled nerval at ” Venkatapatiyani Veda nilayudani ” was followed by quick swaras..
Shanmukhapriya’s elaboration of Jayamanohari was enjoyable. Tyagaraja’s beautiful composition was followed by a round of brisk swaras.. This was followed by a composition of Sri Kaiwara Yogi Narayan Yathendra in Madhyamavathi. This song is in Kannada [language ] and was very lively and impressive.
The main kriti of the concert was Sheshachalanaayakam.. Detailed elaboration of the raaga, detailed nerval at the lines “aravinda patra Nayanam Govindam uraga shayanam ” and impressive swaras and a lively tani.
This composition was the highlight of the concert.
All post tani compositions were sung with great devotion, drawing thundrous applause from the audience. Majority of the audience stayed on till the end of the concert enjoying each and every composition.
This concert will linger on in the minds and hearts of all those who attended..

Shreedarshan - thanks for the review. The neraval words should be "aravinda patra nayanam Govindam uraga shayanam" - one with the lotus eyes.shreedarshan wrote:The main kriti of the concert was Sheshachalanaayakam..
