kATrinilE varum gItam

Yesterday, Sunday, 19th August at 9-30pm IST, there was a programme, 'kATrinilE varum gItam', on Podigai TV, in which the artiste featured was my guru Sm.T.Muktha. Unfortunately, I could see only the last 15 minutes and I have no means to video record. R.Vedavalli spoke very well on Mukthamma and a few songs sung by by Mukthamma were also telecast.

It is my humble request to anyone on this forum who might have watched the programme and video recorded it. If you can upload the programme on this forum I'd be most grateful.

Yes, it is Savitri Satyamurthy on the violin, who accompanied Mukthamma for many years during the 1990s.

Thanks a lot for the link mahavishnu. But the clip contains only 5 minutes of the programme, Mukthamma singing the Todi padam. The programme was for 30 minutes, with Mukthamma singing the Bilahari javali 'telisEvagalella' and a Sankarabharanam tiruppugazh besides an interview with R.Vedavalli who learnt from her for many years. The interview itself was very moving. I hope and wish Sri teeveegee will upload the whole programme if he has it.

Yes, there is a re-telecast. Just now I looked up the schedules of DD Podigai and there is a telecast of the programme 'kATrinilE varum gItam' on 25th August, i.e., coming Saturday at 12 in the afternoon (12-10 according to another schedule card). But I don't know whether this will be a repeat of Mukthamma's programme or something else. Usually the programme that featured MS, DKP etc., had a repeat telecast. I hope someone will record the programme on August 25th.

Katrinile varum geetam is a programme that has been coming for the past many weeks in Podhigai channel at 9 p.m. on sundays.First 3 weeks episodes were about M.S.Amma.next there was a single episode of Sri.Semmangudy Srinivasaiyer with Sri.P.S.N.
Smt.M.L.V. s 3episodescame next with Smt.T.M.Prabhavathi,Sri.Vasanthakumar (smt.sulochana pattabhiraman s son) and Kanyakumari which was really interesting.
The next 3 weeks it was about Smt.D.K.Pattammal with Vijay siva and Pattammals family narrating about their thoughts and experiences.
There was retelecast of all these on the following saturday from 12 noon to 1 p.m.
due to the olympic games highlights, this was stopped for a few weeks and last sunday it started again with Muktamma s with Smt.Vedavalli.
This is a very interesting programme which many people dont miss.

Thanks mahavishnu and thanks to TVG. He takes a lot of trouble to do these things. These recordings, Mukthamma has told me, were done by Doordarshan in 1994. She was already 80 then.
