*AIR relayed the concert on the occasion of "World Music Day" today.
*Kalyani RTP a feast to listen both complementing each other with sahana varali Darbari kanada Desh Kapi covered in the Ragamaliga that followed.
* Why have we, as forum members not recognised today as such? :^)

Satyabalu,
Hope we get to see a clip of it on youtube!
As for World Music Day, I hope that some rasikAs bring us music which they have enjoyed this year from different parts of the world.

Chow chow morekuzhambu and bread would make it a vegetarian jugalbandi
Alright, silliness aside, shamed into action by satyabalu, let me tune in to some CM, may be that double mridangam LGJ/Ramni/RR/TS U.S. concert that varsha uploaded. I can definitely justify that as world music!!

Another example that made the rounds in the early 80s . One of the earliest examples of world music that I came across . Made me a fan of AK Devis Veena playing - have heard her play an exotic hour long shudh saveri for AIR during that period .
Not heard about this artist. Remember reading somewhere that she changed her name or something like that .
This album remains in my books alongside other albums which have world appeal , like call of the valley , lalgudis thillanas , marco saulans guitar exchanges with sultan khan
This album used to stand silently in one of the corner stalls at Academy for a few years before it went into oblivion . If I come to know that this still sold somewhere on this planet I will withdraw this track .
This music was ahead of its times in many ways .
Thanks srikanthj. Since only samples are allowed on this site , the album must still be on sale , somewhere .
And so I have removed the link .

Varsha,
Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece.
This is from the album titled Crosswinds from Oriental Records, with music by the Flemish-Indian group Rajhans Orchestra - http://users.telenet.be/rajhans.orchestra/rajhans.html. It used to a favorite of mine, though I haven't listened to it for a few years now.
Their website also features information and music from this CD (http://users.telenet.be/rajhans.orchestra/cd.html)

Guys,
Talking of fusion, have you heard that famous album of Sarangi Espania - Sultan Khan and Marco Salaun...
Here is a link I found via Google: http://www.4shared.com/dir/37370205/8c0 ... co_Sa.html
The sarangi almost brings the salty taste of Rajasthani sand dunes to our lips in the Catalonian mountains.

Seeing the title of the string, I eagerly looked in thinking that it was a latest program. But anyway .......
Wonder if dr.ramani is performing nowadays. Heard that he had a minor health setback sometime back. Anyone heard his concert recently?
