It was an excellent concert by Sanjay with never a dull moment. The RTP was gripping and the raagamalikas in both RTP and the Viruttham were outstanding. Earlier the begada and kalyani alapanas were superb.

I remember his singing RTP on ninnaye rathi endru in bagesri. In fact after the Main, I took a slip to him requesting for this song as a thukkada. I do not know if he had planned it earlier or it was spontaneous. He came with the brilliant RTP. Amazing artist indeed.

Thanks for the review sraja. Good to see reviews from places other than the usual and customary. The audience present was probably a discerning and knowledgeable one, given the rich CM history and hallowed tradition associated with Palghat and surrounding places.

This Ata thala varnam in Mohanam has been a bit of an enigma for me. All the other renditions I had heard have not been quite satisfactory. It is hard to tell if it is the composition or the musicians!! I would have liked to see what Sanjay did with it.

The discerning crowd heard the concert in rapt attention . There was no exodus when the thani avarthanam was given. In fact about 80% of the initial crowd was still there when the concert got over around 9 20 pm.

VK, I have heard very lovely versions of this varNam from vidvAns from the Sri HKMB SiSya paramparA - Sri TNS, Smt. Gayatri Girish, etc...
