The elite folks at Ottawa were treated to a very classical karnatic concert on 20-4-2013.
It was a perfect evening and the artistes were in perfect form and it was Full House.
The Kamboji varnam rendered precisely was followed by the quick Dhanyasi kriti of Thyagarja.
The Huseni followed quickly with short elaboration.
The aalaapana for the Vasanta was elaborate with both the artiste taking turns with beautiful support from the accompanists.
The aalaapana for the Hamir Kalyani was out of this world especially by Sriram Prasad who precisely teased the dvi madhyama to perfection. RKS returns were outstanding.
The begada piece was done in quick succession.
The main piece was the Bilahari and the melody was divine when Ravi Kumar traversed the Tara sthaayi with his ringing voice. The hall reverberated with the melody in perfect unison with RKS's bowing. There was no need to second guess the kriti since it was obvious to all of us.
The neraval at Rama brahma thanayudou was divine and will long remain in the memory of the Rasikas.
Folowed by a sweet aalaapana of Kalyana vasantam and surprisingly it turned out to be the RTP. Though short it was totally exhilarating. The returns by RKS were magnificent that it must be dubbed a concert by Malladi brothers and RKS. The pallavi line was
Sama gana maalinchi brovave, kanchi kamakshi, madurai meenakshi

Since time was running out there were two short pieces that followed which were rendered nicely.
All along Ravishankar provided adequate laya support but was subdued which was appropriate.

Malladi brothers with RKS are classical CM personified. The unanimous request from the audience and this writer is that they should visit and entertain annually the Rasikas in the National capital of Canada.

True Rajesh
The atmosphere in the hall was electrifying!
At times when I closed my eyes I thought it was Nedanuri performing.
Pinakapani from his divine abode must be feeling mighty pleased about his shishya parampara....
