Tadaepalli Lokanadha Sarma @ Musiri House 21/4/13

Wow! Never seen anything like this before!

On top of the great voice and the music beauty, was a feeling that he actually meant every word that he sang. That is not to say that any other artist is insincere, but this had an additional quality, like being talked to, rather than just sung to. And I say this despite not understanding any of the words! There was also a great freshness to everything. Saadhinchane might be well known, even to me, but it came across like a new song I'd never heard before. I remembered the name from the Rasikas series of concerts, but it was one of the ones I wasn't able to attend. Still, thanks are due to Mr Cool for the "recommendation," as well as to the Musiri household whose concerts are usually not-to-be-missed.

VLV Sudharsan, violin, was right there at every moment, with exactly the right touch, exactly the right intonation, with every accompanying note and return.

Madirimangalam Swaminathan (I'm a fan anyway) gave the definitive demonstration of how really great mridangam playing can lift a brilliant concert even higher. On top of great experience, utmost skill, musicality and a terrific sound, he injects a great sense of joy into his playing. When we mention the great mridangists of today, counting on the fingers of one hand, say, his name should be there --- yet, sadly, I only heard him for the first time a few years ago.

Now, I understand from two sources that this was a GREAT concert experience!

I hope we all will be lucky enough to hear a recording!
