Radha Bhaskar,
Promises to be such a good program--even rasikAs who know about these rAgams are going to enjoy it equally. You have a quartet of our young talents on stage--at least one other besides you is a Rasikas.org member as far as I know!
The synopsis itself promises to bring in more casual listeners into the rasikas' fold. Hope many take the time to attend this effort of yours.

Radha Bhaskar: The 'teaser" was great--My heartfelt appreciation to your efforts to broaden the listening experience of rasikas. As Arasi has mentioned(she always seems to steal my thunder!!!),this will bring in more casual listeners into the Rasikas' fold!! Some of us seniors in the forum (atleast I was!!!) while growing up were always intimidated by 'seemingly-more-knowledgeable-veteran rasikas" opinions that deterrred us from probing deeper. Your effort using the web medium to reach a broad segment that can broaden their knowledge and appreciation-- without being "put down" as "gate-crashers" into the holy sanctums of Music-- is commendable!!
Look forward to the webcast.
Apropos the comparison of how the same raga has been handled differently by the same composer or other composers,I have found the following personally fascinating:
1. Take Ravichandrika--Thyagaraja's 2 krithis Ma kelara(slow-paced plaintive composition) and Niravathisukhadha(brisk-paced) . OR Jayamanohari(Nee Bhakthi Bhagyasudha--a slower-paced krithi contrasted with Yagnadhulu(a slightly fasterpaced). Same in Devamanohari--Evarikai Avatharamu --a slow-paced bhava-ridden krithi and a brisk Kanna Thandri na Pai.
So many such comparisons--I am sure Forumites can list their own favorites!!

MKR,
Speaking of favorites, you are one of mine
Among us seniors, you have been fortunate enough to have heard so much of music! Also in being close to some giants in CM.Your inimitable anecdotes about them makes you one of our favorites, of course.
What if I steal your thunder once in a while (I don't mean to)! You have the (lime)light shining on you when you come up with your fascinating accounts about the great vidvAns and vidUshis we simply adore.
I am glad you are posting more (takes your mind off many of your cares).

When I read Saptaratnangal, I thought of OVK. But I am sure you will have very valid technical reasons for having chosen only post trinity ratnangal

yes, there are so many fascinating aspects of these great composers - the point mentioned by you about kalapramana is an added food for thought for me!
Of course, for highly knowledgeable rasikas like you, this program is quite fundamental but my main focus is ( as rightly pointed by you ) the casual rasika and draw his attention to the finer nuances of Karnatic music by demystifying it and explaining in a simple way. I deliberately make it very simple as many lay rasikas have a wrong notion that our music is very complicated and difficult to understand.as I always say " it is important to tell the rasika what he wants to know and not all that we know !"
