Malladi Brothers Sgbs Unnati Bnagalore 2013

Post by sgbsblr »

Malladi brothers gave a fulfilling concert adhering to the tri-lineage tradition, delivering every piece with a sense of proportion and precision. The brief and succinct outline of Dhanyasi for Shyama Sundaranga and Bridavanasaranga was extremely refreshing. Ragas kamboji and dharmavathi were presented in a grand manner with much detail bringing out beautiful nuances of the ragas. The Pallavi that followed after the Dharamavathi ragam and thanam, was embellished by a ragamalika of svaram that was very pleasing, adding lustre to the concert.

On the violin, Sri Embar Kannan accompanied the artists, adding great value to the creativity of the artist. On the mridangam, Tumkur Sri Ravishankar and on the ghatam, Smt.Sukanya Ramgopal played an energetic Tani Avartanam and accompanied the artists ably.

List of songs and ragas:

1. Karunimpa - Sahana

In the morning we had a led dem by Smt. Mala Mohan, giving her support in the vocals, Kum. Shraddha Mohan. The topic was "Role of gamakas in Rakthi Raga". The best part of the lec dem was that it was equally beneficial to the layman and the student of music. Smt. Mala could express the theory and demonstrate the practical aspects of music through her singing beautifully, making the whole program interesting and engaging.
