This is the first concert of me hearing the vocalist and mrudangam artist .K Dharini is the disciple of vidushi Smt R vedavalli who is known for her erudite approach having a high dose of emotive feel in her presentation. K dharnini started with a shree ragam varnam that just could not bring an immediate attention but from harikAmbodhi she presented every number with a degree of crispness without losing the classical paddhati .The harikAmbOdhi was very nice ,her diction clean with a nice thrust of swaras . The major raga alapana in varali was a standard fare - i felt excessive caution there. Diction was clean in dikshitar krithi with an even spread of neraval and swaras - felt a slight loss of tempo in swaras.

The filler in nenendu vedakudura was quite unexpected and was very good. THe rare papavinasam mudaliar krithi in bhairavi was presented very well and I enjoyed it . Even though I have personally not heard this krithi at all , I could connect to the bhakthi rasa of the composition which is centered on Lord thyagarAjA Swami (not sadguru thyagarAjA as mentioned before, correcting it after ravi clarified). Swaras were just right as it was an unfortunately a very short concert . The last thillana in desh was apt considering that shri LGJ passed away recently.

The violinist M vijay, disciple of S varadarajan had a really right proportion sense but a bit more press to give a more nAdham to his violin tune would have been better . AMoung the three youngsters ,the beats of young mrudangam artist Tanjore Praveen kumar was really special .His kalapramanam was really superb and his anticipation was brilliant. Tanjore Praveen kumar is the grandson of Late Tanjore Upendran and it looks he is well set to reach a high degree of excellence.

Overall a very good concert for 75 minutes.
