Ganesh & Kumaresh- Harikumar-Zakir Hussain-Nada Mantapa

A grand music celebration by the following eminent artistes was performed at Sri Ganapathi Satchidananda Ashrama, Mysore on 30 Jan 2014.

Violin Duet : Sri Ganesh and Sri Kumaresh
Mridangam: Sri Trichy Harikumar
Tabla: Ustad Zakir Hussain

Rasikas enjoyed the sheer music bliss produced by the above artistes for abt. two and half hours ( 7 - 9.30 pm)
1. Ganesh sang an invocatory Dhyana Slokam of Saptha Swarams in ragas - M M Gowlai;Shahana;Amrutha Varshini,Hindola;Ananda Bhairavi; Hamsanandi and Suruti

2. As a tribute to Mysore Composers- Sri Harivallbhe in Shudda Dhanyasi of Mysore Vasudevachar was rendered with brisk swarams for abt 10 mts.

3. Kumaresh played a soulful Gowri Manohari ragam for abt 10 mts followed by Gurulekha of Thyagaraja. It was quite interesting to watch Ustad playing K. Chapu.
Swarams for 10 mts at Pallavi encompassing nice gamakams and birgas at varied speeds.

4. The main item was a leisurely Kalyani by Ganesh bringing out all the raga bhavams for abt 15 mins.
A Swara Bhedam bringing out Shahana was enjoyable.
With a short Thanam, Pallavi was rendered in Adi thalam( two kalais).
Swarams were showered by the duo for abt 25 mts.

The next interesting part was the thani by Trichy Harikumar and Zakir Hussain for about 30 mts. I will leave it to the rasika's imagination.

5. Bhajan

The audience gave a huge applause for these brilliant artistes for performing a blissful spellbound concert.

Swamiji blessed each one with a gold bracelet.

It was an added attraction that Shivamani also attended the concert and joined all of them on the dias after the concert.

One wonders how these masters are able to achieve this level of perfection on their instruments producing sheer melody.

Any number of adjectives used fail to describe the rasika's enjoyement.

That must be the biggest remuneration for the concert. I have vague memories of that ashram in mysore ooty road when I attended Dr L Subramanyam,Keep them coming from mysore.
