Jay Appaji of Plano Texas is the recipient of a highly competitive recognition from Texas Arts Commission Young Masters Program. He has been a student of Dr Rohan Krishnamurthy over the years. Arguably this is the first time south Indian percussion has been accorded this honor. Couple of years ago Silpa Sadagopan, a talented vocalist of our close family friends in Houston received this honor for music. Jay will finish high school next year. Last year Jay was selected, among approximately 800 contestants, for a fellowship by the Percussive Arts Society of America.
