OST @ seshadripuram, 14.04.14

Post by sais72 »

Venkatesh A R compiled this partial list on K P Jayan's blog (see the comments section on this page - http://kpjayan.wordpress.com/upcoming-c ... bangalore/). Posting the complete list here for wider coverage

Seshadripuram Rama Seva samiti Concert at Seshadripuram College.
14.04.14
Vocal: O S Thyagarajan
Violin: G Chandramouli
Mrudangam: Umayalpuram Mali
Ghatam: Srishyla

Song list
1. Dinamani vamsa – Hari kambodhi – Thyagaraja
2. Moddumomu – Sooryakantam – Thyagaraja
3. Eti Jamamidi – Varali – Thyagaraja
4. Rama ne deivama – Surati – Thyagaraja
5. SattalEni dinamu – Naganandini – Thyagaraja
6. Dvaitamu Sukhama – Reethi Gowla – Thyagaraja
7. Sloka ragamalika - Sree raghavam dasarathatmaja - sahana, hamsanandi, shanmukhapriya, neelambari followed by uyyala looga vayya - neelambari - tyagaraja
8 . nadupai palikedaru - madhyamavathi - thyagaraja
9. pavamana suthudu - sourashtra - thyagaraja

Bad acoustic arrangements, there was too much bass, hum and the vocalist was barely comprehensible. Very nice selection, a all thyagaraja fare, high on melody and was a nice concert inspite of the acoustics. Very good support from all the accompanists and Chandramouli stood out in the raga alapana and swara prasthara replies.

Great pity that bad acoustics haunts Shesadripuram ramanavami concerts for so many years.
Is it that difficult to fix the problem for the organisers 8-|

I am more pained at lack of sensitivity shown by the organizers when the artists keep asking for adjustment every now and then. I dont see any of the organizers trying to fix this. Was an eyesore during Trichur V Ramachandran's concert throughout. Planning to be there today for Malladi Bros hope things will fare better.
