Sriranjani has a very good voice that is at its best at madyama and tara stayi. She put that to good use in this concert. Aarabhi piece had nice poruthaswarams like saa ma vedhagama, padha saa ma vedhagama etc.) Dhanyasi alapana was nice which was followed by Meenalochana in the right kalapramanam. Begada was brilliant! The krithi was taken from the anupallavi. Kalpanaswaram had a good dose of thisram. Akshay presented a neat thani. I could see Santhanagopalan keeping the thalam and nodding during the thisram excercises.

OVerall, a very good concert from a promising youngster!

I wanted to listen to her, but had some work to attend to. I would have heard her for half an hour at least, but there were no seats available as I tried to go in from the lobby. I did not like the idea of entering the hall by the front door and then leave in the middle of the concert

Will try to hear her elsewhere...

Sorry I forgot to write about Smitha. Her replies to challenges were nice. But for some reason, there were some instances where her playing was marred by screeches. Maybe it has to do with the high pitch and the instrument.

A very matured concert from one of the young stars today. Deserves to be singing in the 1.30 slot. Such a delightful presentation. I walked in only during Aarabhi.

I found the violinist to actually be quite good. High pitch violins normally sound sharper and are more difficult to play but didnt find any screeches per se.

I really liked her concert. Her begada ragam and nereval was really nice. Her dhanyasi had so much of sowkiyam.

Enjoyed her concert thoroughly right from the saveri virutham. She s a crowd puller and the auditorium was jam packed for her 11.45 concert.(both the ground floor and balcony). She will definitely scale heights very soon..
