I am kavita and this is my first kutcheri review after reading forum .savita madam in academy sang with classicism . Her bhairavi was main she did not sing neraval and with swaras . Athana was not that nice and was bit flat . pallavi was in poorvikalyani - savita with no gimmicks was enjoyable . raga malika had begada , saranga few more ragas.
she sang kamas modichese and vishwesaru. Last academy was more better but savita madam has always sowkhyam with meditative voice .Bengaluru vidushi charulatha madam played very well - proud of her. other artist i dont know their names gave nice support to vidushi charulatha and savita. I heard this and sanjay subramaniam sir concert and i liked both. I see sanjay sir kutchery is already reviewed

Kavita...good to see another reviewer...please do point your personal views on Sri Sanjay's concert too. These are more personal experiences than reviews, so it's adds to what has already been shared.

Savita is one who can give unadulterated music.
I missed the concert as was out of town.

A good concert -- missing sancharas in the mandara stayi still -- would like to hear this. I liked her purvikalyani very much. Charulatha also played very well. She and Savitha really make a great combination. The mridangam and kanjira were subdued but gelled very well with the mood of the concert

Her Academy was just awesome. I feel she is certainly being underrated for her capabilities. Her bhairavi and purvikalyani was too good. She should get senior vocalist award thai year.

My Impressions:

I have only heard savita just once , cant blame me as I see she sings in academy and this time in one or two more sabhas, rest of the time or the year she is not having that much chances in chennai . One can say savita is like Sreevalsan menon despite her domicile being chennai.

I came half way into bhairavi , the krithi was well sung with no neraval , a little more tempo change in swaras would have been better . The pallavi was well done for most part , the gamakakriya alapana was measured and the non metered taanam followed with her madhyama kala centricity The pallavi with trikalam was neat , the swaras were measured and I am not sure if I or hema is right in the names of ragas in ragamaliga. I particularly liked her sahana. .She was bit averse to taking any risk in pallavi. The intermediate atana was neither fast nor rhythymically intense.

The ragamaliga slokham was the pick, her emote was top class in kapi and coffee got cooled excessively in behAg and sindhubhairavi . Nice measured close in swati gem vishwesharu. Vidushi charulatha ramanujam played very well and was anusaranai at her best and as hema said they paired very well. The two percussionist were new to me , the mrudangam was almost leading the show and with savita's risk averse singing he also followed up well. I forgot how Tani was . Savita has sowkhyam and few ragas like sahana and kapi in slokham was lovely, but looks the muse of bhairavi , poorvikalyani and before she sang dhanyasi and neelambari which I missed, may have not been the best of choice in one single concert.

Overall a very good concert .
