About Aishwarya Venkataraman
Aishwarya Venkataraman, or Aishu for short, born and brought up in California, USA, started learning the violin before the age of three, and has been under the tutelage of the legendary Sri T N Krishnan, whose style she closely follows. She has also learned from Sri S R Janakiraman, renowned musicologist, musician and teacher.
Aishu is also trained in jazz performance, and has the ability to seamlessly fuse diverse elements in her music. Her commitment to the pursuit of excellence in music comes through in the assuredness of her playing and the purity of her technique.
About Vinod Venkataraman
Vinod Venkataraman, Aishu's father, is a percussionist who plays the mridangam and kanjira, apart from other drums from around the world. He has collaborated with the best Carnatic musicians and also with a range of renowned Western musicians. He has a degree in Mathematics from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, and perhaps fittingly, works with students on "Global Music and Numbers" at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
