PAHI NAREYANA- ANANDABHAIRAVI
Hearing Neyveli Santhanagopalan’s concert in Nada Neeranjanam. Just now he sang a song - Pahi Nareyana Lakshmi Nareyana …….Amara Nareyana- a composition of Kaivara……. I could not get it fully. Since it is sung as Nareyana instead of Narayana it is intriguing.
Earlier also I had heard this song. I will like to hear about the composer and why it is sung as Nareyana. Knowledgeable rasikas may kindly enlighten.

Sti Nedunuri mentioned in a function that he had tuned all Kaivara Narayana kritis at the request of philanthropist MS Jayaram. Kaivara is about 50 km from Bangalore towards Madanapalli.

I feel that the words are corrupt forms of the word, nArAyaNa

I don't mean this post as an attack specifically on Savitriji, but as a response to the general attitude it represents.
True, as part of a certain scholarly attitudes, we are used to seeing things in terms of a single-centred 'original' and a later mutant that is seen as a subversion or a corrupt form. And we believe that in the 'original' language there is perfectly valid, grammatically sound explanation for the term.
That isn't true. There are variant forms for every term, as it moves from language to language; and even within the same language. Nor is there a convincing, grammatical sound explanation/ interpretation for every word within the language. Why can't we see the variants as variants - regional or dialect-based, rather than as mutants or corruptions or anomalies; and receive them as referring to the same meaning.
nareyaNa and nArEyaNa refer to (and mean) the same thing that nArAyaNa does (or doesn't).
The prAkRts and apabhramsha-s are not corruptions of SanskRt. Just as Kalidasa's SanskRt isn't a corruption of Valmiki's and AswaghoSa's SanskRt.
None of / ta'mei:to /, or /tama:to/ or /takkA:Li/ are corruptions of one another are they; and none of them is meaningless.

Does not 'Narayana' have a meaning in Samskritham? In Tamizh we call the changed forms 'maruvi vazhangulirathu'. That does not connote a pejorative as it seems to sound when described as 'corrupt'. But, corrupt itself might have got the pejorative sense thanks to what we witness in India. The beauty is the singer sang as the poet wrote and the idea of playing it down as inferiror was perhaps not in anyone's mind.
