Melbourne based Iyer brothers today gave an enchanting classical veena concert here at Ermington Hall in Sydney.
Iyer Brothers - Ramnath and Gopinath - Veenai duo (Disciples of late Sri Pichchumani Iyer).
Chidambaram Bala Sankar - Mrudangam
Adambakkam Shankar - Ghatam
Concert Duration - 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm - 3 hours

This was a fantabulous pure classical concert right from the word go.

Gowlai sketch - Pranamamyaham Sri - Mysore Vasudevachar - Swaras @ Pallavi
Arabhi short tanam - Narasimha Mamava - Swati Thirunal
Ragam Varali alap - Tanam - Kaa Vaa Vaa - PS, elaborate amazing swaras at Pallavi in two speeds. Listening to this was a wonderful experience.
Shri Ragam sketch - Sri Varalakshmi Namastubhyam - Rupakam - Dikshitar
Sankarabharanam main raga alaap, tanam - Manasu Swadheenamaina - Misra Chapu - Tyagaraja - Elaborate Swaras in two speeds. Very melodious and full of bhava. Taniavarthanam - Very energetic and interested by the accompanists.
Sabhapatikku veru deivam - Rupakam - GKB
RTP - Dharmavathi - Kanda Chapu tala - Composed by Sri TRS. Maal Maruga Shanmukha Muruga Guha Thunai Purindarulum. Alap and Tanam only in Dharmavati. Pallavi and trikalam executed neatly. Swaras in Dharmavati, Raakeshri, Suryakantam and Chandrakouns(??).
Vaani Pondu - Javali-Kanada- Dharmapuri Subbaiyyar.
Ehi Annapoorne - Punnagavarali - Adi - Deekshitar.
Thillana - Mand - LGJ
Mangalam - Pavamana - Saurashtram -Tyagraja continued with raga Madhyamavati sketch.

Superb concert Organised by Pallavi in Sydney.
