Ragam Alankari?

ALANKARI
An apoorva raga derived from the 53rd melakartha Gamanasrama. This is an audava raga
having vakra sancharas only in the aorhana. Ri and Pa are deleted in this raga. The svaras
figuring in the raga are Shadja. Antara Ga^ Prati^ Ma^ Chatusruti Dha and Kakali Ni. This
can perhaps be considered as the Prati Ma of raga Hindolam. Hamsnandi and Sundavinodini
have some resemblence with this raga. A minor raga having only one known composition.

Hindolam has only the lower notes - sAdharana gAndhAram, shuddha madhyamam, shuddha daivatam and kaisiki nishAdam. Alankari is quite different, and one has to bring the vakratvam in the ArohaNam to prevent identification with sunAda vinOdini.

I had recorded this from AIR and unfortunately couldnt catch the artiste's name. Doesnt it sound like Nagamani Srinath?

This is the exact equivalent of Hindol in Hindustani music, Sunadavinodini isnt. The great HMB composed in this.

Since swara " ra" is ommitted,the other swaras corres.to 53 gamanasr. And hence more equalent to raga.Kalyani-gu,dhi,&nu.and not simi.to hindolam,which has-gi,dha&ni.The audio is not working.
