Post the Septemeber fest here in Coimbatore I was only visiting hospitals/meeting many doctors for nearly a month.
Also missed the thematic concert of Smt Gayathri Girish for which I was supposed to travel to Madras
Nothing going my way. Saturday morning my customary visit to the Kodandarama temple for the Purattasi saturday darshan I stumbled
upon the banner of the above program. Some respite finally.
Early to venue and the temple was decked up for Navarathri festivity had great darshan of Kamakshi & Annapoornai.
Concert started around 6.55 with handful of enthusiasts around. Havent heard him recently I was curious what he has to
offer today. His voice was clear and fluent. The first Alapana valachi was very good. kApi narayani krithi with the
breakneck speed swaras upped the tempo. khambhoji was well done with lovely sangatis.He was at ease in both the
octaves. By then MAS was returning effortlessly everything thrown at him.
Tani by both Arjun Ganesh and Subramanyam (Kanjira) was crisp and good.
It was 8.30 when he finished Aabhogi and he did hamsanandi alapana for 2 mins I thought probably he will sing a virutham.
But after the violin return he again sang hamsanandi and I slightly got a doubt he might do a short rtp which he did
After 3 stages of hamsanandi alapana and quick tAnam followed. I am unable to get the Pallavi lines fully
Someone asked for eppo varuvAro. MAS's return especially mAnd in virutham was brilliant.
Good concert though one can find lot influence of MMI/TVS.
PS : After mangalam he started singing again and some one asked for maithram bhajathe.I walked
out as I was tired and restless with my health.
