Veena pickup in USA

Could you please suggest a good pickup for veena that can be purchased from US.

I was thrilled and excited to know that Veena has picked up in USA. Then I realised that the thread is about electronic pick up for Veena! I hadn't read the caption correctly.

Let's hope Veena playing too picks up fast. New entrants to the art are few these days.

I'm using http://www.amazon.com/Specialized-India ... up+supreme
a bit on the expensive side but it sounds really nice and picks up the talam strings too. Ideally, you want someone local to buy at Sapthaswara/Shrutilaya stores in Chennai and bring it here.

How do these compare to wooden acoustic-guitar pickups (e.g. http://www.amazon.com/Dean-Markley-Acou ... 0002GXW5W/)? The only problem I have had with the Dean Markley's is that the putty that is used to attach to the instrument often removes lacquer and loses its stickiness over time.

No sripriya, I just commented in a lighter vein but out of interest in the Vaadyam!
Really happy that many are coming forward to take up Veena.
