A completely superb concert. Every note she touches is beautiful and weighty. He slow-and-low is just spine-tingling, but she covers the whole range with considerable weight and an apparent lack of effort. And she doesn't need any weird contortions to go low or high.

The accompaniment was beautiful too, with the percussion well modulated, lovely nadam, and dynamic control appropriate to each song.

A good musician who delivers consistently.
To me, she is a welcome break from all the pyrotechnics that pass of as music in concerts.

This song is by Gopalakrishna Bharati - not P.Shivan.

This song is usually thukkadda (prefixed with a viruththam most times) - not submain or main.

Not able to recall even one concert where I have heard this one, even as tukkada. I recall NCVs recoding only. There seem to be couple more in YouTube, AS and BJ.

This certainly is fit to be a main item. Nereval at andam migunda ambalavAnarE or kUttathil oruvan pithA pEyA enaththitta or vIsi Madurai mARan pirambAl adikka would be grand

With respect to Nisha, she sings non-stop,in akAram to most extent and as Nick said with apparent lack of effort up and down the scale at ease. Though, I would prefer if she were to pause now and then. Music is vocalization + judicious pauses. Just one nereval too is a minus in my books.

Voice - is it both as asset and liability? After a while, I felt it would have been even better if she had sung at a lower kattai.

The finish by percussion for the vasantA after she concluded the swarams was fantastic indeed.

I felt mrdangist was trying too hard :-) He is usually more restrained.

I would certainly have had the appetite for more nereval!

I suspect her pitch is carefully chosen to allow her the ease to reach high and low as she does. Some artists choose a pitch which inevitably gives them problems at one extreme or the other, and even if it is just a few moments in whole concert, it is noticeable, and one wonders, with just a small adjustment overall, those deepest (or highest) moments might not have been comfortable.
