Somehow, I think it is easier to sit through a four-hour concert when one realises afterwards that that is what it was.
The challenge is for the audience, not for the musicians, who are young and fit, and who have probably played in practice for much longer. In fact I once asked an artist about long concerts and they said, yes, indeed they must practice for longer so that they develop and know they have the stamina.
I'll be there. I may nip out to a flask of tea in the car half way through. The artists won't have that luxury, but I have no doubt that they don't need it

MMI and Madurai Somu used to sing for half the night, I read.

It also depends upon the performance/presentation of the artist(s). I have attended Madurai Somu's concerts for five+ hours sitting on the floor without getting tired of it in the sixties. Of course that was 50+ years ago in my thirties. I don't know if I could do so now. Three hours is perhaps the limit before my butts & back give up, even in a comfortable seat.

I wouldn't like anyone to get the impression that I am being negative about this, it is just that I admit to being just a little bit daunted by knowing that there is four hours ahead.
