It was about 9, I had to leave.
Nandini has a strong and powerful voice which can connect to the audience, many were listening to her with closed eyes. She is very popular on Youtube. Altough the concert was in Pune, it had the pace of Bombay's local trains. All songs were rendered in slightly faster speeds. Abhangs were overly dramatic, following the new found abhangist tradition of the sisters.
The concert lasted for a little over 3 hours. The selection of ragas was good. There was PPT being projected with attractive slides having lyrics and meaning. The compering was innovative, Parimal was drawing parallels with HM for the audience to fully appreciate the pieces, Nandini also spoke. RTP was also adequately explained. The script was too Tamilised in the sense that there were ragams, talams, keerthanams, and above all alapanam!!! . The audience was good,in number and manner, no one got up before the tani
It was a wonderful concert. Accompaniments were okay. Morsing was shining throughout the concert.
I hope that this concert would have generated interest in KM among Pune rasikas.
