Srikant, thank you for posting this.
She sang next:
- a lovely Tamil folksy song in Anandabhairavi-ish raga
- cheto darpana - Shikshashtaka shloka followed by a Marathi Abhang in Yamunakalyani
- a Bengali song in Sindhu Bhairavi
- Maitrim Bhajata
- Pavamana
I am sure you will add your kind comments on the concert. Would you kindly allow me to say a few words here.
When it comes to MSS, I have only one feeling - "aho-bhava". I feel the merits of my past birth have exposed me to Carnatic music, and my opportunity to hear MSS live in her prime and listen to her innumerable songs from Suprabhata to Maitrim Bhajata is one of the highlights of my life.
SRLKM had placed a wonderful photo of MSS with her beatific smile, adorned with flowers and lamps, and I am sure MSS heard this concert today.
And what a concert. Amrita Murali delivered a "PERFECT" concert today. It simply overwhelmed me with its
Melody
Range of songs
Laya finesse
Manodharma in alapana, niraval, swara
Modulation - vallinam and mellinam
Pronunciation
Effortlessness
POISE
The accompanists did their bit very well, the thani was VERY good (Congrats Akshay on your Shanmukhananda Fellowship award! Keep it up!).
But this concert was all about Amrita truly. For me, it is not an easy accomplishment to master the grammar and syntax of Carnatic music. And then to build up the stamina to deliver a concert. Then to make it a beauteous experience for listeners. And then to make it an inspired tribute of eloquence and elegance to a great soul like MSS - who is as eternal, as evocative, as life-giving, as monsoons to us. And then to score a perfect TEN. And that too with an apparent effortlessness and poise. Wow.wow.wow.
Everyone who was present today has been touched by an ineffable spirit of joy. That experience will be with me for long, indeed!
God bless Amrita Murali!

Adharam Madhuram was done in true MSS version. It sounded like Behag to me. But it is listed as Misra Khamaj.
So today it was Harikambhoji-Khamaj-Misra Khamaj... treat!

Brilliant concert by Amritha.
the Marathi Abhang was Sundarathe Dhyana
The Bengali Song was He Nutan.
It was a double delight that I could meet Sachi.

I noticed Sachi sir enter and occupy the front row.I could not say hello as there was no opportunity till end and as usual rushed back. But truly there were no dull moments in this concert. The violin support was adequate, but not extra ordinary.Hence it was Amrita all the way single handedly took the concert to great heights and i should say a very meditative concert befitting the Occasion.
A very short RTP - Pallavi composed by Sri RK Sriramkumar as tribute to MSS embellished the concert. Our Rasikas Srikant and sachi have given nice reviews.

For me the highlight was the shrI rAga part of the mELarAgamAlika. The kharaharapriya rAgam had snatches of superb creativity. I liked BK Raghu's madhyamakAla explorations in the rAgas, especially bilahari, without "running". I also found the "stretch" inclusion of a few rounds of swarams in the racy naLinakAnti very exciting, after the demanding mELarAgamAlika and before the main kharaharapriya. Akshay's enthusiastic accompaniment added to the thrill in the music throughout the concert. His completely at-ease playing, at this young age is notable. It is hardly a couple of years since I witnessed his arangERRam with Smt Neela Ramgopal in the same hall.
As someone who has already listened to Amritha Murali a few times, I was expecting excellent music from her anyway.
