Post the short varnam, Sikkil Gurucharan started with an overview of Sowrashtram, followed by krithi and few rounds of swaras which were nice. tatvameruga taramA was rendered nicely. Expected few quick swaras at the end, but it was skipped. Then he started on a nice and detailed alapana of nATaKurinji followed by the Swati krithi pAhi janani, ending with some nice set of swaras. laLita was sung leisurely and without any embellishments (was hoping for a neraval here). madhyamAvati was the selected main and was treated with detailed explorations. Post-main included a nice ranjani ragamalika and 2 more popular thukdas. Accompaniement was good.
Overall, a good concert of around 2 hours and 15 minutes. Was a bit disappointed that he chose not to sing longer and reduced the amount of manodharma explorations, though the concert had started right on time and people were ready for more
