Re: Guess the Violinist #3
Tracks 7 and 8 are rather tricky, as the recognizable stylistic elements have wide spread among violinists for over a generation now. #9 was a track suggested by yours truly.

Re: Guess the Violinist #3
sr_iyer got them right -- I don't know whether it's Manjunath or Nagaraj, but probably Manjunath.
#7 - Like hnbhagavan said, it has elements of Lalgudi and Parur styles. I was not able to locate any Parur elements until asked to look for them. Probably they come out more in Nagaraj's playing? It is also a little more leisurely compared to what I've listened of Nagaraj.
#8 - The style is fairly clear from very early on. The unusual beginning grr, followed by a sa without jAru. Phrases like s,rg or sarm, with a brief ri. Bowing on two strings when playing sa, like around 1:20 ...
#9 - TNK-likeness is quite evident. The mighty forceful bowing. There is an occasional "strumming" of the pa (E) string, which is somewhat characteristic to Papa
(You also see that with MC, maybe why Semmu thought it was him?). Abundance of pazhamaiyAna dnsrssn kind of piDis hint Papa further. This has something like a second round of AlApanai, after the mridangam briefly joins. That round contains some TNK style elements missing in the round before that: a swift phrase to AdhAra sa and back after reaching tAra sa. Some madhyamakAla passages back in the AdhAra sa towards the end.

Re: Guess the Violinist #3
Yeah. It had all the elements of Papa, but since there is a second violin following and that I haven't come across any violin duets of Papa, I had to zero down on either TNK or MC, with the strumming making me think it was MC.srikant1987 wrote: ↑29 Apr 2017, 08:41 There is an occasional "strumming" of the pa (E) string, which is somewhat characteristic to Papa(You also see that with MC, maybe why Semmu thought it was him?).
