I learnt about this event via social media (which was validated on the day's Hindu) and landed up at this quaint place bang on CP Ramasamy road.
A wonderful garden ambience with perfect audio and a discerning audience comprising the legendary musician Smt. Sugana Varadachari as well.
The concert was soulful and made for a relaxing evening.
I like the way he sings - from the heart - sans any attempts to rake up the decibels!! Works very well for me!!!
Here's the list:
1) sri matrubhutham - kannada - Swarams for suvaasita
2) ora joopu - kannada gowlai
3) neerajakshi - hindolam - a moving alapana and the kriti sung at a leisurely pace
4) bhogindra sayinam - the usual 'filler' - with swarams also sung
5) durusuga - saveri - a soulful alapana and more importantly a detailed neraval at 'narayani' followed by largely onnaan-kaalam swarams and few fast swarams finally
6) I left after the tani avarthanam
the highlight to me were the hindolam and saveri raga elaborations and the leisurely pace of singing.
the violinist was sri kj dileep - very versatile i felt but i hope experience mellows him down.
the mridangam was simply outstanding - sri b ganapathi raman - what mellifluous strokes with wonderful balance!!!!!! hats off!!!
