I thought only Goltis have food-related names like Pappu, Bulusu, Allam, Sonti, etc.

I like Parsi names such as Darukhanawala, Ginwala, Screwvala, Sodabottlewala, etc.

Definitely, more picturesque than Contractor, Doctor or Engineer.

I may now opt for Screwdriverwala or Harvey-Wallbangerwala after my favorite drinks when I take up sannyasa.

But sannyasis have names ending in -ananda or -Bharathi or -theertha.

That is it: Screwdrivertheertha it is!

By the way, I just discovered that Uppala is an upper caste surname from Andhra and perhaps Karnataka, too.

However, Apeksha has the simple expedient of getting married and changing her name.

I am told in Maharashtra, the groom's family even changes the first name of the daughter-in-law.

In Germany, the wife may take the husband's last name, or the husband may take the wife's last name, or they could adopt a hyphenated name. The law allows all of this.

There is just a possibility, a hint of a whiff of a vestigial sliver of an outside remote chance, that a young lady may yet rise well above last name, race, class, skin colour, Brahmcriminal, prejudice, and make a name for herself, through musical talent. That is our अपेक्षा!
