How much Todi is too much Todi?!

Is it just me, or do you sense that EVERYBODY is singing or playing Todi?
No wonder Todi is like Virat Kohli among ragas, but even he is getting rested in the T20s. I think the revival of Todi, if I may be allowed such an excessive, patronising, cheeky, adhika-prasangi expression, augurs very well for the 2017 season. We will also get to hear more Todi kritis. But do you also see a lot of Todi filling the Chennai airspace?

Please give a shout, as Americans say, here, every time you hear Todi this season. Please.

Add TNSK, AVR, Tiruvarur Girish.. Spelt as Thodi, but as someone said, Todi spelt any which way is Todi.

After listening to ARI sing thodi, I thought 'thodi ezhunthodi vandhadhu'.
It seems to be a favourite raga of musicians, I too have a weakness for it. But, it is more a pliant and soothing Raga, not aggressive or arrogant like Kohli. More of a Dravid.
Rangaramanuja Iyengar has written about thodi being sung for 8 days at a stretch those days.
Those days, AIR would request the singer to avoid a raga that was on the air. I heard a musician say that he wanted to sing Thodi, but AIR requested him to choose another raga for the broadcast time.
MA seems to regulate the raga selection.

OK, sir, I agree, I meant Todi is a prolific raga, and has a repertoire of excellent kritis, much like a versatile and prolific batsman. I was forgetting Kohli's aggro attitude and penchant for fairness creams akin to a Carnatic singer.


BUT, are you also seeing a Todi resurgence?
