I think I'll wear my grateful-dead t-shirt when I go to the Academy.
As for messaging the person you're sitting next to... I wish it would catch on. Older people often need to have their shell-like shouted into, and youngsters behave as if they do.
My wife and I don't message each other... But we use the phone as a notepad. I suppose one could use pen/paper technology too, but I got out of practice with that!

Yes, Arasi. I still use paper and pen to communicate with my wife or friend sitting next to me about the song being presented, raga, composer etc. I have been following this practice for many many years. I hate when people sitting close to me or even farther away talk loud enough to disturb the ambience. Some rasikas(?), in Chennai as well as here in the U.S., insist on their right to converse/discuss about the music or anything else happening around them. The new gadgets/apps (which I am unable to get used to) are indeed a boon to good rasikas who do not wish to be disturbed.
