Mob Scene at the Academy Canteen

I wandered into the concert by Kalyanapuram Aravind at the Music Academy. Most of the seats in the auditorium were taken and the only seats available were those in the middle of a row where one would have squeeze past several persons, inconveniencing oneself in the process. I stood with my back against the wall for a while and then found a seat and sat down to listen for a while.

I figured that the Trichur Brothers may draw a huge crowd and decided to get something from the canteen. I ordered curd rice but had to eat it standing up as all the tables were taken. Soon, the waiters returned coupons to the patrons saying the canteen had run out of mini-meals.

I was afraid this may start a riot and left the Academy before a stampede could begin.

Later on, I was told that the Trichur Brothers concert was full at the beginning but after about forty minutes, people started leaving.

Hall remained pretty full till the end.

There was a very good "patriotic fervor" RTP in Darbari and Desh.

Main was in keeravani - a rare kriti on Maha periyavaal.

I was not there.The RTP should have been a number with lines like pOradinOm , i definitely recollect one review of priyashekhar from a mumbai concert explaining that pallavi and i think she also mentioned 24 ragas in taanam denoting 24 chakras. Not sure if they did 24 ragas as it is just a 2 hr concert. Looks like their musical marketing technique is centered on India Growing(fresh blood) than NRI (who are not showing exlusivity).

The keeravani krithi should have been shree chandrasekharam ashrayE - Dr V Raghavan krithi . Again both are my best guesses and I am sure i am right.

Yes. It was something like nAdinOm, pOradinOm...

Not sure if they did 24 ragas as it is just a 2 hr concert.

They sang the ghana pancha ragas in the tanam. Ragamalika swaras had pairs of sad/happy ragas, I remember saveri/bilahari (he sang the opening of ra ra venu swaras) and kadhanakuthuhalam.

Finally 3rd and final attempt , it should be Paramacharyam Pranamamyaham- keeravani - swarna venkatesha dikshitar. No more spams from me, admit defeat with this last guess.

Ah yes! That is the ticket!! Sorry about the "Tamil" wrong clue. It had the Swarna Venkatesa mudhra,

There was also the fussing about the audio setup quite a bit Guess they have made the big leagues!

There was also a Meenakshi suta nattai kriti to start out.

The concert was very good but didn't have the edge of the seat excitement as in prior years. May be they are evolving!

how was vijay natesan in mrudangam was he racing with fast fingers (academy is a great sabha will not budge to have Trichur Mohan to play with brothers).

I thought he was very good, close to the best I have heard him. Seems to have good understanding with the brothers.
