Is it EREnO or EROnE (ஏறேனோ ஏறோனே)

vgvindan:
I think by "EROnE" you are thinking "one who rides the bull" (ERu = bull)
However, in keeping with tIrEnO, sErEnO, I'd go with "EREnO".
Here EREnO would mean "may I not ascend" (to your abode)?

If 'EREnO' is correct, then this would translate as 'uyarvEnO' implying 'emancipation'.

ஏறு (p. 188) [ ēṟu ] . Rising, entering, உயர்ச்சி

Yes, more than emancipation, nandan wants to join God's abode. Although he regrets his "lowly" birth (which prohibits him from entering any temple premises) he is not longing to be accepted by the society into the higher echelons. He does not care about that. He wants to become one with God which he ultimately did in tillai.

Gopala Krishna Bharathi, of course!

Sanjay has a CD titled "tillai" where he has sung the kriti in nATTaikkurinjci

I am sure others have also sung this kriti.
