Re: Sri. V, Kamalakara Rao passes away
What a sad news . He is a great vidwan , shining star having learnt from PMI. Though I have no idea if i heard his recordings with GNB, MMI , chembai, dwaram venkataswamy to Mandolin srinivas as mentioned in the above url , atleast i am not aware of those combos- may be all of that he played only in erstwhile andhra belt . He playing for one and only Taala Raaga Swaroopan as his most favoured stock mrudangam artist is etched permenantly in my mind, he was a great stock mrudangam .
Our coolkarni once told me that he is a fairly successful businessman from rajahmundry , but he played for the joy of playing that divine instrument. Being successful in busines possibly did not give us more chances to hear him more . Last time i sat one row behind him when i attended pantula rama concert in arkays . I have heard him only twice in live concert once i recollect M Chandrasekaran and his daughter played with kamalakar Rao gaaru supporting and another with lalgudi siblings . Both reviews is surely here
Above link url of narayan rao is not pasted right which has 5 vidwans mentioned

Neekepudu in Khanḍa Tripuṭa tala by Mysore Sadashiva Rao in Abhogi Ragam is in the below link .
This is one of my favourite TRS- Kamalakar Rao with Shri V V S , what ideas .Mrudangam is coasting so closely with the ideas of one and only spectacular Supernova Taala Raaga Swaroopan . Mrudngam is in abhogi ragam, TRS is in khanda triputa talam is what i would characterize. kamalakar rao always enhanced adding the right balance by not overbanging that his great guru taught him

Om Shanthi. Condolences to his family, friends and his students...
Rajesh,
A gentleman player--by which I mean, he came across as a fine human being. His playing was unobtrusive and at the same time sounded fine, even to me whose ears are not trained to know the intricacies of mridangam playing. He had a pleasant stage presence too, I remember. A successful hotelier, is what I think he was. A fine rasika too, and a friend of many a musician. He did play several concerts mid-nineties during the Chennai season, I recollect. I have heard him here in the US too--in Cleveland concerts??
