Dear rasikas, the time has come to call "Curtains!" on the world's beloved Carnatic blog - "A home called Parvathi."
We are sharing a wonderful concert - a jugalbandi, no less. We are also sharing a very touching note on her parents by Smt. Mysore Prabha. She lost both of them within the space of a year, but did not forget to share the Grand Finale posting lying in wait.

On behalf of the entire family and the inner circle of "Parvathi", we thank you all profusely for your encouragement and support all these years.

🙏🙏🙏

Sachi,
Pass my beloved pranams to Mysore Prabha . What a joy and what a service that their parents Smt. Vatsala and Sri. K. Srikantiah must have done with Parvathi . They were doing all the stellar behind the scene work and most importantly gave space for great artists to perform . I have seen this place once or twice in 2000 or 2001 in mysore , but not aware of the legacy then .

If some one appreciates say GNB (as their all time favourite), Madurai Somu , MLV etal that means a lot for me. Kudos to Srikantiah on his special choice of artists and many more . Carnatic Music needs a sustained long attempt to nurture and we dont need splash festivals that ends with 45 mins chat pani puri festival (what is that in mysore we get near ballal circle churi mori).

Mysore will miss Sri Srikantiah for sure.

Also special thanks to you Sachi for your sustained posts.

There is a mention about vandee sadaa padmanabham . I searched if GNB sang and if there is available recording(may be he did not even sing this ) . It is best to end with a musical note to Srikantiah

GNB disciple MLV singing in a brisk brighaish fashion
Vande Sadaa Padmanabham - Navarasa kannada - Swathi Tirunal

possibly ninnvina namadhendu (Thyagaraja) was a source of inspiration to Swati Tirunal to create Vande Sadaa Padmanabham and bit later by Papanasam sivan to create Nanoru vilayatu bommaiyaa

Thanks, Rajesh. Yes, the Srikantiah family is indeed special.

I have heard that late into the night, after her concert in Parvathi, MLV used to sit with the family and Vatsala used to sing. She is supposed to have had a very MLV type of delivery.
