There is no gainsaying the fact that NEIVELI SANTHANAGOPALAN had done more than enough justice to the memorial day concert on 30.11.07 at shastri Hall.Speakers TKM and Prof.R.V.Krishnan have all paid floral tributes before the concert.
Though l the entire menu served by N SG was superb, I confine my observations to the five star category item AMRUTHAVARSHINI.thru which NSG showered upon the well attended audience the RAIN OF AMBROSIA
(AMRUTHAVARSHINI) and enthralled them right from the Alaap to Kirtana rendition and Swara kalpana.Particular mention has to be made with regard to panchama varja phrases during SWARA.Kalpana with deft handling and amused the rasikas with his sthana sudham in the Swara phrasings.There were several rounds of applause throughout HIS
AMRUTHAVARSHINI SOJOURN.No better homage could have been paid
to the yester year MAHAN NAIDU GARU than the Nadha samprokshanam done by NSG.I think he took cue from the earlier speaker Shri R.V,K who while dealing with NaiduGaru's penchant towards SUNADHAM and in particular about the mythical belief that each and every swara has it's own characteristic to transform divine vibrations that cause favourable , and beneficial events in the cosmic field.
A memorable and pervasive concert indeed !

As vageyakara said, the amruthavarshini alapanai and kalpanaswarams were breathtaking. Hope he continues in the same vein this season.
